I love the mountains and to me Montana feels like home. I lived in Missoula briefly for 18 months in the mid 1990’s and this was my second visit back in 20 years. The city of Missoula has grown but the beauty of the mountains and Montana wilderness remain. I spent the month of April in Missoula and then took some time to tour Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. I had arrived at the end of winter but by the time I left the bare trees had become full of  fresh green leaves. Montana is a state you want to drive as almost any highway or interstate is scenic!

Beaver’s Head Rock…name based on the information Sacagawea gave when she recognized where they were and that her nation, the Shoshone, were nearby.
“…the Indian woman recognized the point of a high plain to our right which she informed us was not very distant from the summer retreat of her nation on a river beyond the mountains which runs to the west. This hill she says her nation calls the beaver’s head from a conceived resemblance of it’s figure to the head of that animal.”
