My return to Santiago is starting from the port of San Diego, a city that is special to me for many reasons. When I first moved to California in 1986, this city is where I wanted to live, but I arrived in LA, got a good job and that is where I stayed. My brother lives here now and takes full advantage of what the city has to offer and we have good memories with my mother. It was almost 5 years ago that my mother passed away and just 3 weeks later, honoring her desire for me to go, I was headed for Santiago and a trip to Antarctica that had been reserved 15 months earlier and paid for before we knew that her cancer had returned. It was this life event and others following my return from Antarctica that began my transformation and desire for a more fulfilling life. It is ongoing and has led me to take risks to follow my heart. Today, I leave this beautiful city by ship and in 18 days will once again find myself in Santiago Chile where this journey began. I could not have imagined then how my life would be impacted and the changes in me that would give me courage to live my dreams.
I awoke this morning and discovered from the balcony of my hotel room that my ship has arrived…
